Achieve a better fit and
faster fat reduction
What we tell our patients: No matter how many core exercises you do, targeting fat loss in specific areas of your body is impossible. That’s where modern body contouring treatments come into play.
Choosing the right body sculpting or contouring treatment
Selecting the ideal body sculpting treatment involves considering your desired outcomes, body type, and how much downtime you can accommodate. Schedule a complimentary consultation with us to explore our most popular treatments.
Fat-Freezing Sculpting
Fat-Freezing Sculpting is a widely popular noninvasive treatment that eliminates fat by freezing fat cells. It uses cryolipolysis to safely and effectively destroy fat cells. With no downtime required, most patients can return to their normal activities right after the session. Treatments last around 45 minutes, but keep in mind that while it’s effective, it doesn’t tighten skin, and multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve optimal results.
Radiofrequency-Assisted Body Contouring
Radiofrequency-Assisted Body Contouring offers a powerful method to tighten skin and eliminate fat, with results visible within a few months. This minimally invasive procedure allows our experts to precisely target and reshape areas like the abdomen, arms, and thighs. Recovery typically involves 2-3 days of mild soreness and swelling, with the most noticeable skin-tightening effects appearing after 6-12 months. It's particularly helpful for addressing loose skin, such as on the arms, abdomen, and knees.
Laser Liposuction
Laser Liposuction is a preferred alternative to traditional liposuction due to its ability to provide smooth, tight results. This procedure is performed in our office with local anesthesia or tumescent anesthesia. Fat reduction can be dramatic, reducing up to 80% of fat in patients who are near their ideal body weight. A key to successful outcomes is ensuring the physician uses the laser to evenly heat the treatment area, which typically takes 1-2 hours.

An Experienced Body Contouring Provider
Cosmetic Skin & Laser Center (CSLC) opened its doors in 2001 and has been a leader in the region for advanced laser technology and body sculpting. We were among the first in the area to offer non-invasive fat reduction treatments over a decade ago. Dr. Gustav Lo has also been performing laser-assisted liposuction since 2008, gaining a strong reputation for excellent results.
Training and Expertise
Dr. Gustav Lo regularly trains with national experts in the field of body contouring, including Dr. John Millard, Dr. Stephen Mulholland, Dr. Barry DiBernardo, and Dr. Christopher Chia. These leaders emphasize patient safety and strive to achieve optimal outcomes using minimally invasive body sculpting techniques. They remain at the forefront of the latest approaches to body reshaping and skin tightening.
Caring and Time
Laser-assisted liposuction and advanced radiofrequency treatments are minimally invasive body contouring procedures that require patience and precision. For optimal skin tightening and smooth, natural-looking results, the skin must be heated carefully and evenly. This is an area where Dr. Lo excels above many peers. While some surgeons may complete the procedure in an hour, laser liposuction and RF treatments typically take 2 to 4 hours when performed thoroughly.
How does body sculpting work?
Body sculpting treatments target unwanted fat by using a variety of energy technologies, such as extreme cold, radiofrequency (RF), lasers, or ultrasound. In surgical body contouring, fat is directly removed from the body during the procedure, while non-surgical treatments encourage the body to naturally eliminate damaged fat cells.
Body sculpting can help reduce fat in the following areas:
- Neck, chin, or jawline
- Arms
- Abdomen
- Love handles
- Back
- Thighs
- Pubic area
- Bra fat
What are the different types of body sculpting?
There are several body sculpting options available, including non-surgical fat freezing (cryolipolysis), microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) technology, minimally invasive laser fat removal, and RF skin tightening, among others.
Here’s an overview of each:
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, fat freezing is one of the most popular non-invasive body sculpting procedures worldwide, with over 450,000 treatments performed globally.
This method was approved by the FDA in 2010. Fat freezing uses targeted cooling to break down and eliminate fat cells.
During the procedure, a vacuum applicator is placed on the patient’s skin. It delivers controlled cooling to the targeted areas, freezing and destroying fat cells. On average, most patients notice a reduction in the treated areas by around 20 percent. With additional sessions, the treated area may reduce even further.
Each session typically lasts 35-60 minutes, depending on the person, the area being treated, and the desired results. Unlike traditional liposuction and laser fat removal, fat freezing requires no downtime, and most patients notice results within two to three weeks.
We’ve been performing fat freezing treatments since its FDA approval in 2010, having completed more than 1,000 procedures!
What is body sculpting?
Body sculpting, also known as body contouring, is a cosmetic treatment aimed at reshaping specific areas of the body. These procedures may involve removing excess fat, tightening loose skin, or addressing both skin and fat concerns in targeted areas.
It’s important to note that body sculpting is not intended as a weight loss solution. Rather, it is ideal for sculpting areas where diet and exercise have not been effective.
Is radiofrequency skin tightening better than traditional liposuction?
Radiofrequency skin tightening provides more skin tightening benefits than traditional liposuction. Traditional liposuction excels at fat removal but offers limited skin tightening, and the results can sometimes appear uneven. On the other hand, laser-assisted liposuction can reduce fat significantly — up to 80% — while tightening the skin by around 20%. The laser helps liquefy the fat, making the procedure smoother and more even.
Radiofrequency skin tightening is a minimally invasive body sculpting procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to melt fat, which is then removed through suction. Simultaneously, it heats the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving elasticity, tightening skin by roughly 40%.
At CSLC, we provide both laser-assisted liposuction and radiofrequency skin tightening. If you need significant skin tightening with minimal fat removal, radiofrequency skin tightening may be the better option. However, for larger areas requiring substantial fat reduction, we recommend laser-assisted liposuction. During your complimentary consultation, we’ll help you determine the best approach for achieving your goals.
Laser-assisted liposuction vs fat freezing
Laser-assisted liposuction and fat freezing are two popular body contouring options that effectively target and permanently eliminate fat. Both treatments are commonly used to treat stubborn areas such as the belly, thighs, love handles, and submental fat (under the chin).
Laser-assisted liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laser to heat and liquefy fat, which is then removed with suction. This method guarantees smooth, even results while also tightening the skin by around 20%. Dr. Gustav Lo, a trusted expert in laser-assisted liposuction, has been performing these procedures since 2008, with thousands of successful cases.
Fat freezing, on the other hand, is a noninvasive procedure that utilizes cryolipolysis to target and freeze fat cells without harming the skin. There is no downtime with fat freezing, and the procedure involves no recovery. While the fat reduction is about 20% after a single session, it does not offer the same skin tightening benefits as laser-assisted liposuction. However, multiple sessions can result in more fat loss.
