What is skin tightening with ultrasound technology?
Skin tightening with ultrasound is a nonsurgical, FDA-cleared treatment designed to lift and restore the skin. Commonly used to lift brows and cheeks, tighten the neck and décolletage, and smooth lip lines, it’s also used off-label to tighten skin on other areas of the body. Does it hurt?
If you’ve been considering ultrasound-based skin tightening but are concerned about discomfort, you’ll be relieved to know the process is much more comfortable now, thanks to ProNox — our in-office option for laughing gas. We can also prescribe a pain-relief medication before your session to ensure you’re completely at ease. The good news? There’s no pain after the treatment.
Is this a laser treatment?
This treatment uses ultrasound technology rather than laser energy. Ultrasound waves are directed below the skin’s surface to target deeper layers of soft tissue. This stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, and over several months, you’ll notice a visible lift in areas such as the face and brows. Sessions typically take 1–3 hours, depending on the number of areas being treated. Best of all, there’s no downtime afterward.

How we make it more comfortable
If you’ve researched non-surgical skin tightening treatments, you may have heard they can be uncomfortable. In the past, we prescribed pain medication to use during the procedure. However, with our in-office laughing gas (Pronox) and advanced techniques, medication is no longer necessary! The treatment is now much easier to tolerate.
45 to 90-minute procedure
The procedure typically takes 45-90 minutes to complete. During the session, precise treatment zones are marked on the skin, and targeted pulses are delivered to each area. You can resume your normal daily activities or work the following day. Some patients may experience mild soreness or occasional bruising in the treated areas.
Gradual collagen stimulation
While some patients notice a slight firming effect right away, the best results develop over 3-6 months as the collagen-stimulating process completes. These results last well over a year, thanks to the development of healthy, new collagen that tightens and firms the skin.
Before treatment
Over time, changes to the skin tissue result in lines, wrinkles and sagging skin and weakened collagen fibers.
During treatment
Ultrasound energy is delivered noninvasively, triggering a natural response that stimulates new collagen growth.
